Fishtail Braid In Five Easy Steps

Maybe it doesn't look easy, but a braiding is probably the simplest hair skill to master. The next instructions for a fishtail braid are easy to understand and there are only five easy steps to follow.

Step 1. Gather your hair into a ponytail at the nape of your neck.  You might want to use a throwaway elastic - it is easier to snip it away with a pair of scissors at the end.

Step 2 .  Divide your ponytail evenly into two sections. Unlike the classic plait. a fishtail braid only needs two sections.

Step 3. Now it's time to start weaving - to do that, simply use your finger to separate a small section of your hair from the outer edge near the elastic and cross it over to the opposite side - overlapping like you would if you were doing a standard braid. You need to re-grip the hair to tighten plait, still holding the two sections mentioned above. Repeat with a small section from the other side.

Step 4. Try to maintain evenness as much as possible. Continue overlapping pieces from both sides of your ponytail all the way down to the ends. Every time pull small sections from underneath to cross over and don't forget to maintain the same size hair sections from each side.

Step 5. For the final step you need another elastic to secure your new fishtail braid. Don't forget to cut out the other elastic at the base of your ponytail. Finish the new look by gently tugging on your braid with the fingers to loosen it for an effortless look.
