The actually secret is a combination of preparation, application and product choices.

1.  Make sure there are not flakes of dead skin renting out space on your pout. Use a lip scrub to exfoliate your lips.

2.  Take the next step by applying a non-oily lip balm. Anything with a waxy consistency is preferred over a slippery texture that will cause color to slide right off.

3.  Pat a little foundation over lips to cancel out your lip`s natural pink so that your lip color`s true hue come through. This will also give it a little something extra to adhere to. It helps is you have a dark skin tone to enhance the lipstick`s true color.

4.  Install a fence for your lipstick by outlining the outer edge of your lip with concealer - this will create a barrier to prevent bleeding. Outline and tap softly with your fingers to blend.

5.  Use a lip liner to outline the lips, as well as fill them in. Because the lip pencil is drier than lipstick, it will server as a layer of color for the lipstick to grab onto.

6.   Start applying your color selectively, instead of just swiping across the whole lip.

7.   Finish filling in the rest of your lips.

8.  Separate a tissue into halves and place one sheet on your lips. Dust a translucent powder over the lips, through the tissue. This is a trick that sets the color, without depositing a layer of powder.

9.   Lightly apply a bit more lipstick on top, Now smile because your lip color is ready to go the distance.
